Bayer Romania Partners Caravana cu Medici NGO Offering Free Medical Assistance in Rural, Isolated Areas

Bayer Romania joins «Caravana cu Medici» Association, an NGO dedicated to provide free medical assistance and blood tests in rural areas of Romania to inhabitants with poor financial status or unable to reach basic healthcare services.

The collaboration kicked off on July 16th, 2016 with a first caravanne in Priboieni village, Argeş County. Seven more innitiatives are scheduled to take place by the end of the year.

«Bayer’s commitment to the communities we are present in is to offer a better life and healthcare is an essential part of this goal. We were pleased to discover that we share the values and objectives with 'Caravana cu Medici', a NGO comprising an ambitious team of young volunteering doctors. This is why we have easily decided to offer them our support. Together with 'Caravana cu Medici' we are able to further develop this valuable project and change the life of the people in need, for the better» said Ruxandra Pirojoc, Head of Communications Bayer Romania and Bulgaria.

For each location, the activity unfolds during two working weekends: the first, in which blood samples are collected, and the second, in which the tests results are matched with the clinical examination findings to create extensive individual health profiles. The team comprises volunteering resident phyisicians in various medical specialities such as cardiology, ophthalmology, paediatrics, dermatology and gynecology, assisted by medical students.

«Organizing a medical caravanne is an extensive endeavor, but the results are well worth the effort. In every village we go to, we come across impressive stories and people in real need of medical assistance. We are happy to grow this project alongside Bayer, a representative presence in the Life Sciences field. At the same time, we take the opportunity to thank all our partners for offering their valuable support» added Dr. Mihai Ranete, President of Caravana cu Medici.
